Artist Statement

I have always been fascinated by nature. I wonder at its beauty, simplicity and complexity.  For me, the adventure of nature photography comes with the search.  The search for the intricate patterns, the subtleties of light and vast landscapes.  Traveling adds to this adventure with new places and vistas discovered.

My subject matter is quite varied.  From brilliant details of ancient stained glass to the solitude of a rowboat at sunset, from a sled dog in Alaska to fall leaves along a riverbank.  I am never at a loss for subjects to photograph.   I aim to capture the ‘essence’ of my subjects, the feelings I experience when they first catch my eye.  I also create images using the alternative technique of Polaroid SX-70 Manipulation.  The resulting images are very impressionistic and truly are one of a kind.
